Take the cable car up to a breathtaking view in the morning, enjoy crystal-clear water in the afternoon, and end the evening feeling that the day was truly worth it.

Zillertal is a valley where you can spend a week or longer — each day at a different pace, from playful stops for children to a rewarding mountain hike.

Expect spectacular views and mountain panoramas, swimming in turquoise water, water play and peaceful afternoons too, so everyone looks forward to the next day.

We have divided the programme into a family version, a more demanding hike for adults and a cycling trip — you choose the combination that suits you best. All around six hours from Prague.

What to look forward to

  • With the summer card, enjoy one free cable car ride each day and entry to an outdoor pool after a day in the mountains. Add a fantastic alpine coaster that children will want to ride again and again — and so will you.
  • Playgrounds for all ages, a huge wooden castle full of fun and a ropes course offer plenty to explore.
  • Swim in a mountain lake where you can also hire boats or pedalos.
  • Enjoy a walk to spectacular waterfalls, a panoramic hike among towering peaks with rewarding views and a well-earned stop for refreshments, and a day on the glacier with a visit to an ice cave.
  • For hot days and passing rain showers, the plan includes an afternoon option at an outdoor water park with a slide.
  • You can also add a wonderful cycling trip.
  • Round off the day with our recommendation for a lovely café and a delicious dessert.

Who it suits

For families with children, groups of friends and adults who want to combine playful days with a rewarding mountain hike in one week. The programme offers three versions: a family option, a more demanding hike for adults and a cycling trip. Children can manage the easier days; the more demanding day calls for fitness and a willingness to walk.

Walking and conditions

Most days combine cable cars and easier paths — ride up, go for a swim or stroll to a lake. One day is set aside for a proper mountain hike: expect several hours of walking and elevation gain, with the option to shorten the route along the way. It is cooler on the glacier even in summer, so bring a fleece or jacket. Conditions can change, and the plan includes alternatives.
